Demi Lovato revealed her desire to start a family on Aug. 22, just a few days after the release of her eighth studio album.

Lovato revealed some life and music-making insights in an interview with Entertainment Tonight.

The “29” singer was excited to be her authentic self just a few days after celebrating her 30th birthday.

“It feels so good to just be completely authentic in what makes me happy, to perform and sing, and I’m just really, really excited about it.”

“Holy Fvck,” her latest studio album, shows a side of Lovato that she has always wanted to show fans and audiences. “Holy Fvck” stands in stark contrast to her previous album, “Dancing with the Devil… the Art of Starting Over,” which was released a year before.

She said to ET:

“I’m back to my roots and I’m no longer performing in little leotards and in stilettos, you know, trying to be someone I thought people wanted from me. Now I just get to be myself — my genuine, authentic self — and perform the songs that I want to perform.”

Lovato reflected on her 20s and the possibilities of her future now that she has learned to embrace her true self as she turned 30 and released an album that speaks to her soul.

The singer said:

“I’ve really figured out who I am […] I say that a lot, every time I get older, but it’s like I’ve never felt so sure of myself and grounded.”

When asked about her bucket list, she says it is now more about family than things like jumping out of a plane, which she has already done:

“Things like having a family is really important to me […] It’s the substance of life.”

Lovato has previously sought treatment for her mental health and substance abuse issues. But it appears that she is finally on the mend.

She said:

“I’ve been through a lot, you know, and I’m really proud of myself. And sometimes I look in the mirror and I just say, ‘I am so proud of you. You’re doing great, and I love you’.”

Aside from a new album, Lovato has a new boyfriend. A day after they confirmed their relationship, she was seen celebrating her 30th birthday with Jute$.

Lovato discussed becoming a parent in May:

“I don’t know. I used to really want that, and then, as I’m approaching my 30s without children, it’s pretty nice. I have maternal instincts, I love my animals, and I used to really think that one day I would love to be a parent.”

Perhaps Lovato’s change of heart is due to her new love. Jordan Lutes, a Canadian musician, has also assisted Lovato with her music. He co-wrote “Substance,” a song about Lovato’s addiction battle, with her.

She dedicated “4 EVER 4 ME” to Jute$, and he appears to be equally smitten with the singer, referring to himself as the “luckiest schmuck in the world.”
