Kanye West will not face criminal charges after being accused of battery for allegedly punching a fan.

The “Praise God” rapper was arrested in January for punching a fan who had asked for his autograph.

In a TMZ video, an enraged West yells at a woman on the scene to “get away from me!” while a fan lays on the ground, “Ain’t no hands, ain’t no hands!”

According to the leaked video, the woman kept asking West to give her his hand in an attempt to calm him down.

A fan allegedly approached West while he was sitting in his SUV outside of a private club, asking for his autograph. A verbal argument had turned physical when the 45-year-old musician punched the fan, who fell to the ground.

According to a spokesperson for the Los Angeles City Attorney’s Office, after a thorough review of all evidence, the office has decided not to file because there is no reasonable likelihood of conviction.

Michael Goldstein, West’s attorney, stated:

“We are satisfied with this resolution as it recognizes my client did nothing wrong.”

According to criminal defense attorney Michael Goldstein, the fan had followed West on two separate occasions to request an autograph.

Goldstein explained:

“Video and photographs provided to the City Attorney’s office confirmed that this particular individual followed my client to three different locations over a short period of time and ultimately waited for him at his hotel where he approached my client at 3 a.m. He once entered my client’s personal space, which was unacceptable.”

The Yeezy founder first encountered the fan outside of Craig’s in Los Angeles, where he was dining with girlfriend Julia Fox, Antonio Brown, and other friends to celebrate his Gap commercial. The fan reappeared a few days later while they were dining at Delilah.

The male fan has yet to be identified, and no comments from the female staff in the leaked video have been provided. If the rapper was charged with misdemeanor battery, he would face a six-month prison sentence.
