Cradle Of Filth leader Dani Filth has confirmed that their collaboration is in the works after announcing last year that he had been emailing Ed Sheeran about the possibility of working together. While the death metal band was the one to approach the renowned singer, Sheeran was the first to admit he was a death metal fan growing up.

In an interview with The Sun newspaper, the singer/songwriter revealed that he was “really into death metal as a kid.”

He even stated that he is a huge fan of Cradle Of Filth. In the same interview, he expressed a desire to create heavier music.

Sheeran said at the time:

“I listened to Cradle of Filth and Slipknot and all that stuff. I’m not saying I could ever step into that world [but] I learnt all those riffs on guitar as a kid. That’s something I’ve never thought about doing – but something I would not be opposed to creating.”

Then, in an interview with Kerrang! Radio, Filth revealed that he had been in contact with Sheeran and that the two were planning to meet. The leader also considered working with the world-renowned musician, saying that despite their unlikely musical compatibility, it would be “wonderful” to do so, especially if the resulting song was released to benefit a charity.

Filth informed Kerrang! Radio Sheeran appears to be a very nice person.

Now, the leader of Cradle Of Filth has confirmed in an interview with Knotfest, the Slipknot-owned music event and media outlet, that he did indeed hang out with Sheeran and that a song is in the works.

He explained:

“We still have yet to finish our song with Ed Sheeran. He’s done some of it, but then he had a baby, and then he got obviously sidetracked with that and doing whatever Ed does, which is play massive shows around the globe. He’s not at our beck and call. But he is gonna finish it, he assures me. [It will be released] when it is complete. We do not know when it will be released.”

Ed Sheeran has previously demonstrated his ability to perform rock songs.

Fans are stunned by Ed Sheeran’s electrifying performance at the Bring Me The Horizon concert. On Saturday, the 31-year-old singer-songwriter surprised Reading Festival attendees by performing a remix of Ed’s smash single Bad Habits alongside the headlining rock band.

The Perfect singer invited Bring Me The Horizon to join him onstage at the Brit Awards earlier this year, and the band returned the favor by bringing out the singer.

Ed’s unexpected arrival followed speculation that he might perform at Reading Festival over the long weekend. Ed arrived at the Warsaw airport on Saturday morning, surrounded by fans, after a performance in the Polish capital.

Despite being a very involved father and husband, the singer has been extremely busy. Ed Sheeran was spotted filming a new music video.

The Grammy winner was spotted filming scenes for a new project on the streets of London with American rappers Papoose and Big Narstie, as well as a film crew. The artists didn’t reveal much about their new song, but we can’t wait to hear more.

It comes after Ed announced on social media that he would be attending the SBTV Mega Cookup event this week in honor of the birthday of his late close friend and SBTV founder Jamal Edward. Jamal passed away in February.
