Cher fury: Goddess of Pop shockingly shades Dua Lipa

Cher, the Goddess of Pop, responded to a fan’s post comparing Dua Lipa to herself on August 30.

Cher apparently disagrees with Dua being hailed as “being her” of this generation. She did not keep her reservations hidden and made them known to her fans, particularly those who dared to compare them two.

As a caption to the video of the “Levitating” singer, 27, at 2021’s Grammy Awards, the Twitter user wrote:

“Dua Lipa, the Cher of our generation.”

Cher, 76, did not appear to agree, as evidenced by her response tweet, “How many years are in a generation?” accompanied by a thinking emoji.

Many people responded to this shade by saying Cher should just chill and that if she wants, she and Dua Lipa should just collaborate!

Several Internet users shared their thoughts on the resemblance to “Cher.” Some have argued that the comparison is inaccurate because Dua Lipa is incomparable to Cher, particularly to someone who idolizes the latter.

Others, however, clarified that the comparison was not meant to be insulting.

One user stated:

“Dua Lipa is for millennials/generation Z. Cher is for baby boomers/generation X.”

Others agreed that there is no reason to compare the abilities of two completely different people simply because Dua Lip likes the same outfits Cher used to wear. Others have stated that those who claim Dua Lip is Cher solely based on her clothing choices do not fully comprehend Cher’s cultural influence.

They claimed that while anyone can dress like Cher nowadays, it is not the same as being the first person to do so. Cher will forever be Cher.

It’s no secret that Lipa has imitated many of Cher’s most recognizable looks over the years. The “Don’t Start Now” singer wore a revealing Versace butterfly gown to the 2021 Grammys, drawing comparisons to Cher’s butterfly-themed outfit from the 1974 ceremony.

Lipa channeled her inner Pop Goddess during a 2018 performance in Paris by donning Cher’s classic Bob Mackie nude dress embellished with feathers, which the “Believe” singer wore to the 1974 Met Gala. Likewise, both celebrities have collaborated with Versace.

Lipa was named the face of the Italian fashion brand in June 2021, according to Paper magazine. Cher collaborated with Versace this summer to create her own line, Chersace, for Pride 2022.
