The drama began when JT of City Girls congratulated GloRilla on the success of her recently released song “Tomorrow 2,” which features Cardi B.
A fan tweeted GloRilla’s chart-topping single “Tomorrow 2,” comparing her to other rappers such as JT, Akbar V, and Katie Got Bandz.
JT quoted it, stating that this was not the case and that she is pleased with GloRilla’s success. She congratulated the rapper but omitted Cardi’s name from her tweet.
“I’m not like that at all I been doing remixes & never got credited on a chart but they get sung word for word and help push the original songs as intended unlike y’all well I can’t even say y’all cause you don’t rap, you tweet! congratulations Glo & stream FMF remix and queenmix.”
According to reports, the two rappers’ back and forth was supposed to be kept in direct messages (DMs), but Cardi decided to let everyone in on the drama.
Cardi tweeted “Lapdog.” and “Go fetch,” which City Girls member did not miss because she called out the 29-year-old rapper.
“Cardi you go fetch a real talent! We DM’ing why you come back here to put on a show for these kids?”
The exchange became a spectacle for fans after Cardi accused JT of using a ghostwriter.
“So wait, me and you talking in the DM woman to woman, but YOU take it to your timeline and throw shots calling me a bully and a wiener… Why you playing dumb? And YOU talking about a talent?! ha! You forgot P tried to put me on wit your writer?”
JT decided to clear her name and address the allegations of ghostwriting.
“No you wanted our written! For our hooks for our sound cause you clearly have none! Ask any writer! I write my own shit!!! You know this.”
Cardi eventually had enough of the back and forth, as she waved goodbye to fans and onlookers before returning to their point of contention, which was that their exchange was supposed to take place entirely through the DMs.
“Matter fact, I’m not even doing this on the timeline! It’s becoming real repetitive for doggy treats.”
In addition to their online spat, JT claimed that she is not a “slave” to the charts, although Cardi’s songs are chart-toppers.
Despite the heated exchange, both rappers have previously collaborated. They collaborated on “Twerk,” a song from City Girls’ “Girl Code” EP, in 2019.
However, fans are unlikely to see another collaboration anytime soon following their exchange.
