Keanu Reeves, a veteran actor, opened up about his love of comic books and revealed his childhood dream of playing this Marvel character.
Keanu Reeves has established himself as one of Hollywood’s most popular action heroes. The Canadian-born actor is well-known for roles in films such as “The Matrix,” “Constantine,” and “John Wick.” His acting career began in 1984, and he rose to prominence in 1991 for his role in “Bill & Ted’s Bogus Journey.”
Off-screen, Reeves is a philanthropist and author who recently released his first poetry collection, illustrated by his girlfriend, Alexandra Grant. Keanu recently released his comic book series, “BRZRKR.”
The 58-year-old actor described his early love of comic books as what inspired him to create his superhero comic book series.
“I might have lost my nerd card as I got older, but when I was younger, I was pretty nerdy with comics.”
During an episode of “Jimmy Kimmel Live” promoting his latest comic book, host Jimmy Kimmel asked the “John Wick” star what Marvel character he wanted to play. Reeves responded that his ten-year-old self’s dream had been to portray the spirit of vengeance, Ghost Rider.
It’s no secret that Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige has spoken with “The Matrix” actor Jason Bourne about a possible Marvel Cinematic Universe role. In 2021, Feige confirmed a meeting with Reeves, who later revealed that he would be honored to play a superhero.
Reeves expressed on his meeting with the Marvel’s head:
“We have met, and [Kevin Feige]’s a cool cat. It would be an honor. There are some really amazing directors and visionaries, and they’re doing something that no one’s really ever done.”
Shortly after, rumors circulated that Reeves would play Kraven the Hunter, Marvel’s best hunter and tracker. While the veteran actor offered the role, Reeves later confirmed that he had turned it down.
Aaron Perry Taylor-Johnson has been cast in the role of Kraven the Hunter. The film “Kraven the Hunter” will be released in the United States on October 6, 2023.
