Amid long-running romantic speculations, actor Tom Felton reveals his true feelings for co-star Emma Watson.
Tom Felton began his acting career in 1997. He rose to prominence for his role as Draco Malfoy in “Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone,” which he later reprised for all eight films in the Warner Bros. film franchise.
Despite their characters being on opposing sides in “Harry Potter,” Tom Felton has been the subject of dating rumors with co-star Emma Watson, who plays Hermione Granger. Fans have been curious about their undeniable chemistry on and off screen, and now Tom Felton clarifies his feelings.
The 35-year-old actor revealed his “secret love” for his co-star in his memoir “Beyond the Wand: The Magic and Mayhem of Growing Up a Wizard.”
Tom wrote in his memoir:
“I’ve always had a secret love for Emma, though not perhaps in the way that people might want to hear. That isn’t to say that there’s never been a spark between us. There most definitely has, only at different times.”
During their time on the set of “Harry Potter,” Emma Watson, who was only 12 then, had a crush on Tom Felton, who was 15 then. However, Tom was dating someone else at the time.
Tom explained:
“Rumors started to abound that there was more to our relationship than we were letting on. I denied that I liked her in that way, but the truth was different. My girlfriend at the time knew straight away that there was something unspoken between us. I remember using the familiar old line, ‘I love her like a sister.’ But there was more to it than that.”
On the other hand, Tom clarifies that his feelings for Emma Watson were primarily ones of care and admiration.
Tom concluded:
“I don’t think I was ever in love with Emma, but I loved and admired her as a person in a way that I could never explain to anybody else… we were kindred spirits, I know for certain I’ll always have Emma’s back and she’ll always have mine too.”
