50 Cent’s relationship with his son is known to be strained. His son, Marquise Jackson, had previously mentioned how the rapper’s child support payments were barely enough to cover living expenses.
50 Cent addressed some of his son’s claims during an interview with “The Breakfast Club,” including Jackson’s offer of $6,700 to spend time with him.
The rapper said:
“See, Charlamagne, you would call me. You don’t call TMZ to say you want to sit down. Think about it, man. You know, he wants some attention, and it’s okay he can have as much of that as he wants.”
Jackson claimed that 50 Cent only paid $6,700 in child support, which was insufficient to support his New York City lifestyle.
In an Instagram post, the 25-year-old wrote:
“Since y’all think $6,700 is so much money someone tell my pops I will pay him $6,700 for just 24hr of his time so we can do everything I ever wanted to do with him as a kid.”
This comes after he revealed the alleged difficulties he and his mother faced.
“$6,700 a month in… New York City, you do the math.”
He told Choke No Joke:
“You’re talking about a Forbes lister – you’re talking about someone that has problems with everybody – you can’t just live in any neighborhood, $81K is not a substantial amount of money. You can’t just live anywhere.”
50 Cent claimed that Jackson’s thinking was similar to his mother’s.
“He’s been trained to believe what you seen him saying in that interview. What he was saying, he’s been trained to believe that for a long time. [sic]”
“When I said he’s entitled, really it’s his mom’s entitlement… I told you I was giving her half a million dollars a year.”
He added that he has documentation to prove that he paid half a million dollars per year but that the money was insufficient for his ex, who demanded more, so he “took her to child support.”
“You don’t usually sign up for child support like I took myself to child support because she wasn’t understanding that I’m already giving more than you’re supposed to give. Then when it turns into the $6,700, that’s not enough and it’s never going to be enough.”
50 Cent discussed his relationship with Jackson and why they were estranged.
He said:
“It is sad, it’s a sad situation. When you pray for success, you don’t necessarily pray for the things that come with it. It’s no such thing as success without jealousy, without envy or entitlement.”
He also chastised his son for his actions despite his age, a sentiment shared by many fans.
“He’s 23, 24 years old. He’s not a baby no more. That’s a grown man.”
