No one is surprised that Henry Cavill revealed his plans as Superman in the DC Extended Universe.

After appearing in the recent superhero film “Black Adam,” fans have wondered if Cavill will reprise his role as Superman. While others believe his future is uncertain, the actor ended years of speculation by confirming his return as Superman.

The actor posted a video on Instagram saying that “the dawn of hope” has been renewed.

He revealed:

“I wanted to wait until the weekend was over before posting this because I wanted to give you all a chance to watch Black Adam. Now that plenty of you have wanted me to make it official: I am back as Superman. What you saw in Black Adam is just a very small taste of things to come.”

Cavill thanked his fans for their patience and support while the announcement was still being made.

It is unknown when the film will be released, but it will be his first solo Superman film since 2013’s “Man of Steel.”

According to the news, Cavill’s journey in the DCEU will be extended. Zack Snyder cast him in the role for the first time in 2010. Beginning with “Man of Steel,” the actor appeared in more DCEU films such as “Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice,” “Justice League,” “Zack Snyder’s Justice League,” and “Black Adam.”

Cavill announced after telling The Hollywood Reporter in 2021 that “the cape is still in the closet,” expressing his desire to return and don his suit. He also revealed that as the titular superhero, he has a lot of storytelling to do.

There had been reports that Superman would retire before Cavill delivered the good news.

According to sources close to Warner Bros., the actor left the role because the studio wanted to introduce Supergirl into the film universe.

There were rumors that Cavill would join the Marvel Cinematic Universe after his time in the DCEU ended. According to HypeBeast, the actor paid a visit to Marvel’s London headquarters to discuss the possibility of appearing in the MCU.

Fans speculated at the time that he would appear in “Loki” and “WandaVision.” However, after the films were released, the rumors were debunked because Cavill – even his shadow – was not seen in them.
