Nicki Minaj ignored Saucy Santana.
Santana, formerly Rashid Spain, is a rising rapper who rose to prominence after being recognized as the makeup artist for the rap duo City Girls.
Many people took notice of Saucy Santana in 2019. His “Material Girl” song went viral on the TikTok short-video streaming app. As a result, the Florida-born rapper has made waves online and garnered significant attention from the music industry.
Santana’s “Material Girl” hit the radar of the original “Material Girl” singer, Madonna, earlier this year. Although the two songs differed, the iconic title speaks volumes and is an ode to the popular 1980s track.
Following his surprise appearance at Madonna’s New York City performance, Saucy Santana released “Material Gworrllllllll!” his collaboration with the Pop Queen.
His debut album, “Keep It Playa!” was released in December 2021. However, his most popular songs, “Material Girl” and “Walk Em Like a Doug,” came from his 2020 mixtape “Imma Celebrity.”
Like many aspiring rappers today, Saucy Santana has publicly admitted that he is a Barb – for those who don’t know, this is what Nicki Minaj refers to her fans, a wordplay on her iconic Barbie persona.
However, a social media debate has erupted in recent months, accusing underground female rappers of sending flowers to rap royalty Nicki Minaj to work with her. According to many, working with Minaj increased their discography and, thus, their fame.
Notably, Megan Thee Stallion was one of the first underground rappers whose career took off after working with Minaj.
Barbz is now more defensive than ever. Latto, who had been proclaiming herself as a true Barb since she was younger, recently butted heads with Minaj – after asking for collaborations but being turned down.
Saucy Santana, who is close friends with Latto, has jumped on board and recently joined Minaj’s Instagram Live.
While the two are conversing, Santana asks a rather direct and suggestive question:
“When Am I getting my motherf—king feature?”
Unprepared for the question, Minaj gave a very descriptive frown, almost disappointed by the rapper’s forthright attitude. Still, after being cornered, Santana assumed Minaj’s phone was on mute, while Nicki appeared to be taken aback by the question he hilariously asked if she was on mute.
Nicki stated unequivocally that she was ignoring the question. However, Nicki quickly explained, as she always does, that the feature still needed to be put at bay and that she would review it first to see if his verse would fit the material.
