Hailee Steinfeld enlisted the help of Anderson .Paak for her most recent musical release, “Coast.” Despite the dreary weather in November, the actress is still having the time of her life at the beach.
Before the release of the music video, Steinfeld told Rolling Stone in July:
“This song is deeply personal to me and was influenced by my California roots and the music I grew up listening to with my family.”
The song was released in July, but the music video came several months later, and Steinfeld was overjoyed to show it to her fans.
She wrote in an Instagram post:
“Ok but ‘all I wanna do’ is show you this music video.”
Fans, predictably, shared her enthusiasm and eagerness to see the music video.
Steinfeld’s “Coast” music video followed the trend of retro-inspired music videos and songs, with a mix of retro and beach themes.
Steinfeld hasn’t released any new music in a long time. She has recently been concentrating on her acting career.
So “Coast” marks her return to the music scene, and she chose Anderson .Paak for added impact.
She shared:
“The only artist I envisioned collaborating with on this track was my friend, Anderson .Paak. Knowing he loved the song enough to lend his genius to it is absolutely surreal, and I am forever grateful to have his support.”
According to reports, .Paak not only “lent his genius” to the music, but he also dabbled in the music video; he was the 25-year-old actress’ co-star and the music video’s director.
Following the release of the single in July, Steinfeld has kept fans guessing. Because it had taken so long, many assumed she had forgotten about it.
Prior to the song’s release, she told Rolling Stone:
“If you’ve been with me for a while you know this has been a long time coming. If you’re new here… I’m about to release my first song in over a year.”
While she is mostly known as an actress, Steinfeld had a fantastic music career that was greatly missed by fans when she took a break from music.
“Haiz,” her debut album, was released in November 2015 and was certified platinum by the Australian Recording Industry Association.
Her second album arrived five years after her first. In May 2020, “Half Written Story” will be released. Singles from the album included “I Love Yous,” “Your Name Hurts,” and “Wrong Direction.”
Steinfeld has been busy with her highly successful acting career. She may continue to be busy in the coming years, as she has been cast to voice the character of Gwen Stacy in “Spider-Man: Across the Spider-verse,” set to release in 2023 and “Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-verse,” set to release in 2024.
She is also the main character’s voice in the animated action-adventure series “Arcane.”
If fans were hoping for an entire album from the actress, they might be disappointed to learn that there is no word on whether she will release any new music.
