Louis Tomlinson recently discussed his former bandmate’s incredible accomplishment.
Louis and four other lads, Harry Styles, Zayn Malik, Liam Payne, and Niall Horan, rose to fame after appearing on “The X Factor” in 2010, becoming the first band from the show to break records globally and the first to achieve this level of success.
In 2016, the band announced an extended sabbatical shortly after Zayn’s departure. They all went their separate ways and achieved individual success, including Louis, who is currently working on his second solo album, “Faith in the Future.”
On the other hand, Harry has three albums and three films to his credit. He also performed in front of sold-out stadiums all over the world.
However, in an interview, Louis discussed his former bandmate’s accomplishments.
He told The Telegraph:
“I’d be lying if I said it [Harry’s success] didn’t bother me at first, only ‘cos I didn’t know where to place myself, and really my only point of reference was other members of the band.”
The 30-year-old, on the other hand, noted that the “Watermelon Sugar” singer’s commercial success was unsurprising because “he definitely fits the model of a current celebrity.”
The Doncaster native said:
“He’s not just doing music, he’s got film as well, and the [stadium] tour he’s done is unbelievable.
It took me a while to work out where I stand but I look on Harry like a brother, man. I have a lot of pride for what he’s doing.”
While Louis Tomlinson is proud of his “brother,” the “Walls” singer has stated that fanfiction about him and his bandmates does not impress him.
Louis even discussed the latest adaptation of One Direction fanfiction from books to films, calling it “strange,” but he knows he can’t stop it.
This wasn’t the first time the “Bigger Than Me” singer mentioned how bizarre and out-of-control fanfiction had become.
Previously, when an animated sex scene of Louis and Harry appeared on HBO’s “Euphoria,” the former boyband star was outraged, claiming that the production did not contact him or obtain his permission for anything like this to be seen on TV screens.
Only “After,” a fanfiction written by Anna Todd, has been made into a film. It’s mostly about Harry Styles.
