Janelle Monae is a gifted performer. She is an actress, singer, and author, but her numerous engagements and projects keep her from one thing, and she is afraid of missing out.

Monae was born in Kansas and rose to fame after being discovered and offered a record deal by none other than Diddy in 2005.

She has worked with several other record labels since signing with Bad Boy Records, including Atlantic Records, Epic Records, and Purple Ribbon Records.

Her debut album, “The ArchAndroid,” received positive reviews and peaked at No. 17 on the Billboard US album chart, earning her a Grammy nomination.

Three years later, in 2013, she released her sophomore album, “The Electric Lady,” which featured one of the biggest artists in history, Price, as well as Erykah Badu.

With her music career in full swing, the now 37-year-old turned her attention to the big screen. She dabbled in acting, according to reports, appearing in the 2016 films “Hidden Figures” and “Moonlight.”

According to National Today, the singer-actress has a reported net worth of $12 million and is always working on new projects.

While this may appear to most people to be a dream come true, Monae admitted in an interview that it had caused her some concern.

Monae opened up about her biggest fear and how her career is getting in the way of things in an interview with Fault Magazine.

When asked about what scares her, she replied:

“That I won’t have a family within the time frame that I want to have a family.”

She continued:

“I want to have children, but I don’t want to miss that time because I was so focused on my career and because I didn’t plan accordingly. That scares me most now more than anything.”

Throughout the interview, she partially blames herself for her current situation.

She describes how being a perfectionist has led to certain experiences for her.

She said:

“One of my faults is that I’m a self-editor and perfectionist and I don’t enjoy my experiences when I’m so focused on being consistently perfect in every situation.”

She went on to say that this is something she is constantly working on and will continue to work on:Janelle Monae is a very talented individual.

“I was so concerned with what people thought, but now I’m just at this point in my life where I’m finding strength in my imperfections, and I realize that I connect more with myself and with other people when my faults are being shared for all to see.”
