Rebel Wilson has received a lot of backlash for attending Beyonce’s concert in Dubai.

Fans weren’t upset with her for attending the award-winning singer-return performer’s return to the stage after a long absence, but the “Pitch Perfect” actress incited outrage among the LGBTQIA+ community in a country where homosexuality is still illegal.

Rebel shared a video of herself and her fiancé Ramona Agruma traveling to Gulf City to attend the grand opening of an opulent new hotel over the weekend.

She also shared a photo on Instagram with the caption:

“Atlantis The Royal is BEYond! What a weekend with BEY!”

Atlantis is a brand-new hotel. The Royal features six towers, 795 rooms, 17 dining establishments, bars, and one of the world’s largest aquariums of jellies.

Liam Payne, Kendall Jenner, Ellen Pompeo, and many more A-list celebrities attended the hotel’s inauguration. Queen Bey was on hand to perform, and she reportedly received $34 million for an hour’s worth of work.

One user tweeted: Rebel Wilson, marketing a new hotel in Dubai, is exemplifying the “I’m gay but don’t give an f– about other homosexuals’ energies because my privilege keeps me safe.”

Another Twitter user said:

“The hypocrisy of it all. Aren’t you a part of the LGBTQ+ community.”

A third user said:

“Depressing. Looks like she’s willing to sell her soul. It’s moments like this where we can work out who the GENUINE Activists are.”

The comic later disabled comments on her Instagram and TikTok accounts.

A fourth irate social media user demanded:

“Why are you advertising Dubai, a place where it is illegal to be homosexual, and then blocking all comments?”

As a result of what happened, some people stopped following the Australian comic.

Rebel Wilson came out as a supporter of the LGBTQ community just last year during Pride Month. After coming out, she received a lot of sympathy, but she later admitted that she felt compelled to tell others after a reporter outed her in an article.

Rebel and Ramona were supposed to marry in November. According to Page Six, they broke the news to their friends at a Halloween party.

Rebel, on the other hand, revealed on social media a few days later that they had had their baby through surrogacy.
