Tory Lanez’s sentencing is postponed as his legal team works tirelessly to obtain a new trial.

Megan Thee Stallion triumphed in her high-profile assault trial against Tory Lanez, who was found to have shot the female rapper in the foot in 2020.

According to multiple reports from NBC News and Meghan Cunniff’s blog, the highly anticipated Tory Lanez sentencing has been rescheduled.

Most recently, the sentencing was scheduled for April 10, 2023, but was pushed back by Lanez’s legal team.

This time, Judge David J. Herriford purposefully delayed it to allow Tory Lanez to exercise their right to appeal. Tory Lanez’s sentencing trial date has been set for April 17, 2023, in Los Angeles.

Tory Lanez’s sentencing has already been postponed several times. The last day was supposed to be April 10, 2023, but Herriford extended the deadline.

Tory Lanez’s attorneys requested a new trial last month. Herriford added an extension to their case as Lanez’s legal team sought to add to their argument for the massive appeal.

In a heated, high-profile, and highly publicized trial between Megan Thee Stallion and Canadian rapper Tory Lanez in December 2022, the internet and the judge sided with the female rapper in the assault case.

Lanez was found guilty of the following offenses:

  • assault with a semiautomatic firearm,
  • discharging a firearm with gross negligence
  • carrying a loaded, unregistered firearm in a vehicle.

Tory Lanez, a Canadian citizen, could face up to 22 years and eight months in prison, as well as deportation, according to AllHipHop. Meanwhile, he remains in jail while his lawyers plan an extension for a new trial following their loss.

Megan Thee Stallion and Tory Lanez allegedly got into a heated and bloody brawl after leaving Kylie Jenner’s party in California in July 2020. Conflicting accounts of what sparked the argument emerged in the SUV where Lanez, Megan, and her ex-best friend Kelsey Harris were during the shooting. When Megan exited the car, Lanez shot her in the foot, severely injuring her as she crawled into a nearby house for help.
