Rockstar Games announced that an extended look at GTA 6 will premiere exclusively on Netflix on August 27, 2026, shifting the rollout strategy for one of the most anticipated titles in gaming history. Subscribers will gain access to the new presentation at 3 p.m. ET, while viewers without an account can watch the same footage when it arrives on the official Rockstar Games YouTube channel and the GTA 6 website six hours later at 9 p.m. ET.

The news came after weeks of intense online speculation that new media would drop today, August 6, fueled by community countdowns and internet theories. Instead of an unannounced trailer release, Rockstar opted for a tightly orchestrated marketing partnership with the streaming giant, avoiding traditional gaming channels for the initial six-hour window. Development on the upcoming open-world title has spanned 13 years following its predecessor, with pre-orders officially launching back in June alongside an $80 price tag for the standard edition.

A Streaming First for Vice City

The unorthodox collaboration bridges interactive entertainment and subscription streaming in a novel format. Brandon Riegg, Vice President of Netflix Nonfiction Series, addressed the arrangement through an official company statement.

“Grand Theft Auto reveals have become cultural moments in their own right,” Riegg stated. “The anticipation and fandom around Grand Theft Auto VI is unprecedented, and we’re honored that Rockstar Games has partnered with us to debut the next part of the Grand Theft Auto story with Netflix members first.”

The upcoming footage centers on protagonists Jason and Lucia as they navigate the fictional state of Leonida and the sun-soaked streets of Vice City. According to official plot details provided by Rockstar Games, the pair find themselves entangled in a dangerous regional conspiracy after a simple score goes wrong.

Edition Pricing and Upcoming Launch Windows

Take-Two Interactive set the standard digital and physical package price at $79.99, while the premium Ultimate edition commands $99.99 and includes a bundle of in-game gear, vehicles, and apparel. Physical copies will ship containing a digital download code rather than a traditional game disc.

Rockstar has maintained that the initial release will focus entirely on a single-player narrative experience set across Leonida, keeping details regarding any online multiplayer components under wraps. The game is scheduled to launch on November 19, 2026, for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. Whether millions of subscribers will log in early just to catch a glimpse of Vice City remains to be seen, but the strategy certainly guarantees a captive audience.
