Zayn Malik and Gigi Hadid called it quits after six years of on-again, off-again dating. The couple is now co-parenting their daughter, Khai, and their relationship is still friendly.
According to recent reports, Hadid began dating actor Leonardo DiCaprio; however, many have noted that the couple is not often seen doing public displays of affection—and there appears to be a reason for this.
According to an Entertainment Tonight source:
“They are trying to keep things private and not show too much PDA while out together.”
According to reports, the couple is in love and has been spotted together on several occasions, the most recent being a Halloween party.
The source continued:
“Gigi is trying to be mindful of Zayn’s feelings and doesn’t want to be disrespectful to him with her new relationship.
Gigi and Zayn both only want what is best for each other. They are doing their best to have a cordial relationship, be the best parents they can be, and co-parent Khai in a healthy way.”
Perhaps the model was thinking of the singer’s well-being after their difficult breakup, as Malik and Hadid’s split was not without controversy.
According to reports, Malik was accused of “striking” Yolanda Hadid, his ex-girlfriend’s mother. According to reports, he vehemently denied the allegations but pled no contest to four counts of harassment against the model and her mother.
A source revealed to Entertainment Tonight shortly after the dispute:
“Gigi and Zayn broke up after the incident with Yolanda. The two have been co-parenting but they are not together. They tried to make things work for their daughter, but it wasn’t working out.”
Despite keeping their romance private, the 47-year-old actor and the 27-year-old model “see each other in [New York City] when they can.”
The source said:
“She seems very happy and excited about seeing him. She is attracted to him. He treats her really well. She finds him mature and charming.”
While having fun with DiCaprio, Hadid has not neglected her motherly duties. Khai will be born in September 2020 to her and Malik.
Before dating Hadid, DiCaprio reportedly broke up with Camila Morrone earlier this year after dating her for four years, according to reports.
