Offset, Takeoff’s Migos bandmate, broke his silence following the rapper’s tragic and untimely death.

Takeoff’s family, friends, and fans gathered on Friday to commemorate his life after the rapper was killed in a shooting on November 1. While most of them had already broken their silence following the tragic event, it took Offset some time to process the news and comment on his cousin’s death.

The “Bad and Boujee” hitmaker expressed his grief over his death in a heartfelt Instagram post. Along with the short caption is a letter he wrote to Takeoff, as well as photos and videos of them together.

He said:

“The pain you have left me with is unbearable. My heart is shattered and I have so many things to say, but I can’t find the words. I’ve been going to sleep and waking up hoping that all of this is a dream, but it’s reality, and reality feels like a nightmare.”

Offset also expressed his desire to hug, laugh, smoke, and perform with the “Open It Up” rapper one last time.

He concluded his post by telling his late family member and friend, “I love you forever.”

His post came after the family honored Takeoff’s legacy at the State Farm Arena with a special event. The three-hour sendoff event welcomed several notable people who paid personal tribute to Takeoff.

Among those who performed at the Celebration of Life ceremony were Yolanda Adams, Chloe Bailey, and Justin Bieber.

Aside from Offset, several artists and Takeoff’s colleagues paid their respects to the late rapper after his death.

On Tuesday, Gucci Mane released a music video for his new single, “Letter to Takeoff.” He showed his broken heart in the song, rapping the lines:

“Just left another funeral, I shed a tear / I’m still in disbelief, I can’t believe it’s real … like how the f*** we gon’ lose Takeoff, damn he didn’t deserve it / We don’t suppose to question God, but damn, Takeoff was perfect.”

In the song, he also remembered several rappers, including Slim Dunkin, Shawty Lo, XXXTentacion, and PnB Rock.

Meanwhile, Quavo wrote a lengthy tribute following the memorial service, stating that he would keep his name for the rest of his life.
