Lin-Manuel Miranda, have a wonderful birthday! Let’s take a look at the award-winning Broadway actor, playwright, composer, and singer’s personal life, career, and upcoming projects in 2023 in his honor.

The musician, who was born in New York City on January 16, 1980, is 43 years old today! Luz Towns-Miranda, a clinical psychologist, and Luis Miranda Jr, a political consultant, are his parents.

His name was derived from a poem written by José Manuel Torres Santiago about the Vietnam War, which reads:

“Nana roja para mi hijo Lin Manuel.”

Miranda became interested in musicals at a young age after appearing in a school play directed by journalist Chris Hayes, who was also a classmate at the time.

He wrote the first draft of the musical “In The Heights” while pursuing his early education, which later became a Broadway hit. When he was a student at Wesleyan University, the show premiered in 1999 after being accepted by the school’s theater company, Second Stage.

The musical was a huge success, winning four Tony Awards out of 13 nominations, including Best Musical and Best Original Score. It was also nominated for a Grammy for Best Musical Theater Album.

After his initial success in the industry, he went on to work on other projects such as “Hamilton,” “Encanto,” “Moana,” and many more.
