SZA is currently on tour in North America, performing classic hits and new songs from her smash album, “SOS.” The R&B singer recently performed in a city that made her emotional; what was the source of her sadness?

According to MSN, the singer performed at the Moda Center in Portland, Oregon. The musician performed songs from her usual set list, but when she got to “Nobody Gets Me,” she admitted that performing it in the city made her cry.

While suspended above thousands of her fans, SZA said:

“I’m feeling extra sad because the person I wrote this song about lives here,”

According to Song Meanings, SZA has kept her love life private, not revealing any details about her dating history to the public.

Fans only know of two people she dated: Drake for a brief period and a non-celebrity named Scott Sasso.

However, her connection with someone she was reportedly previously engaged to is detailed in the song “Nobody Gets Me.” Still, their relationship did not work out despite being together for 11 years.

According to the timeline, SZA began dating the person mentioned before the release of her album “Ctrl” in 2017. The song is about her career exploding, and she admits that going “on the road” left her lover “feeling empty” while her popularity skyrocketed.

Furthermore, she admitted in the song that she had affairs with other men, but it was unclear whether they occurred before or after their breakup.

In the end, despite her enormous success, she couldn’t get over the guy, as she sings in the lyrics:

“What’s left of you / How am I supposed to tell you / I don’t wanna see you with anyone but me? / Nobody gets me like you / How am I supposed to let you go?”

SZA has not revealed the identity of the man who inspired her song as of this writing.

According to her official website, the R&B singer still has a few shows left on her current North American tour.

Her final performances would be on March 22 and 23, 2023, at the Kia Forum in Inglewood, California. She would also appear at the Gulf Shores, Alabama Hangout Music Festival from May 19 to 21, 2023.
