The Backstreet Boys will release their first Christmas album in a few months, and fans can’t wait to hear their take on holiday favorites. Recently, the band revealed that one of their rival boyband’s members inspired one of the record’s songs; who could this be?
In an interview with Variety, AJ McLean revealed that one of the songs on “A Very Backstreet Christmas” was inspired by Justin Timberlake’s “Can’t Stop the Feeling” because it has a “happy and funky vibe.”
He said it’s funny because many people have compared Backstreet Boys and NSYNC over the years, but the public didn’t realize that they’re all about “good songs and good movies.”
Carter went on to say that they enjoyed Timberlake’s film “Trolls” with their children.
Carter revealed the song’s title, “Happy Days,” which has the same feel as “Can’t Stop the Feeling.”
He said:
“Justin wrote a really great song and we wanted to write a happy, uplifting song that had the same feel, especially with the way the world is right now.”
Aside from the previously mentioned song, the band will include classic holiday songs such as “Winter Wonderland” and “White Christmas” on their setlist.
They’ve released the album’s first single, a cover of “Last Christmas.”
In terms of the album, McLean stated that it would feature their group in their most “mature” form, with incredible vocals.
He joked:
“It’s the best we’ve sounded as a group in years. My wife’s like, ‘This will be on repeat in our house.’ She starts playing Christmas music in July.”
This summer, the boyband surprised fans by announcing their first Christmas album, which they claimed took nearly 30 years to complete.
On October 14, “A Very Backstreet Christmas” will be released. The forthcoming holiday album is now available for pre-order on their official website.
Their official tracklist includes 13 songs, three of which are originals, and the rest are covers of classic hits.
Furthermore, they have collaborated with Target to release a special edition with bonus tracks such as “It’s Christmas Time Again” and “Feliz Navidad.”
