Blake Shelton recently released a new song, and many fans believe it is a throwback track, but little did they know that it was a song that was just recently produced. Why does it sound like an old release?
According to 103.1 KFIL, the singer released the song “No Body,” which sounds like an old song because it heavily features a 90s country sound.
Rodney Clawson, Josh Kear, and Chris Tompkins wrote the song.
“No Body” is about his experience as a singer, and he didn’t want to be with anyone other than his partner.
The lyrics read:
“Don’t wanna shadow dance with nobody / Slide some cotton off of nobody / Don’t wanna wake up kissing no body / No body but yours”
Aside from the old country sound, the song’s narrative and lyricism included nostalgic references like “scoot the boots,” from Brooks and Dunn’s song, “Boot Scootin”, and “Conway [Twitty] on the radio.”
Shelton admitted that he gets excited whenever he releases a new song, but “No Body” is special to him because it transports him back to the 1990s, when he was in high school and moved to Nashville, Tennessee.
He added:
“The hook confused me the first time I heard it – I’m hoping it’s the same way for everyone else, so they have to listen to it a bunch of times to figure it out!”
In addition to the throwback sound, he embodied major nostalgia by changing his hairstyle into a mullet.
“No Body” is currently available to stream on major music platforms such as Spotify and Apple Music. Its music video can also be found on YouTube.
According to Billboard, “The Voice” coach Blake Shelton will perform at the Grand Ole Opry’s early and late shows.
This year marks the singer’s 12th year as a Grand Ole Opry member, having been inducted on October 23, 2010.
His performance will take place on Saturday, September 10.
“No Body” is Shelton’s follow-up to his 2021 singles “Minimum Wage” and “Come Back as a Country Boy,” as well as his number one singles “Nobody But You” and “Happy Anywhere” featuring his wife Gwen Stefani, which he released in 2020.
“Body Language,” his most recent album, was released in 2021.
Blake Shelton has not announced whether or not he will release a new studio album as of this writing.
