Ellie Goulding has been in the music industry for many years and has had numerous number-one singles. Despite her success, the singer admitted that it can be overwhelming at times, particularly when she feels pressured to release another hit single after another.
In an interview with Audacy, the English pop star stated that her state of mind and mood influence her music because she requires a “certain amount of confidence” before entering the recording studio.
Speaking of her confidence, the “Anything Could Happen” singer distinguishes between writing a song and not writing one, stating that it’s all about being confident enough to write something, experiment, and not be afraid to try new things.
She also wants to instill confidence by believing she is capable of doing anything musically.
Even though Goulding believes that confidence is essential for her to try new things and write music, she admits that there are days when she struggles a lot, but that doesn’t stop her from creating more music.
She said:
“I’d rather put something down than nothing and that’s my general rule. To even write one line or do one thing -play one note – at least it’s something.”
The singer explained that even if the song she created isn’t something she enjoys, she will continue to produce it as a form of “progress.”
Goulding surprised fans when she returned to the music industry last month with the release of “Easy Lover,” a collaborative track with Big Sean.
In a mailing list obtained by Noise 11, Goulding stated that her new album has been “a long time coming,” before cracking a joke about her fans expecting her to release a new song in 2032.
Her most recent solo project was the 2020 album “Brightest Blue,” but she previously collaborated with Silk City’s Mark Ronson and Diplo on the single “New Love” last year.
Goulding teased fans with photos from her Rock in Rio festival in Brazil, hinting a new project. She wrote:
“My happy place… with all of you. Only difference soon is that there will be some new music to give. Think I’m onto something.”
Ellie Goulding has yet to announce an official release date or tracklist for her new album as of this writing.
