Taylor Swift made an unexpected announcement last night at the 2022 MTV Video Music Awards.

Taylor Swift announced her new album would be released on October 21 after receiving the Video of the Year Award for “All Too Well (10-Minute Version).”

Taylor also stated that more album details would be available by 12 a.m.

Taylor Swift’s new album release date falls on a specific date that is quite relevant to the singer’s music career, according to Swifties’ realization of the announcement’s timing.

Taylor revealed the full details of her upcoming new album, “Midnights,” as the clock struck midnight.

The announcement says:

“Midnights, the stories of 13 sleepless nights scattered throughout my life, will be out October 21. Meet me at midnight.”

Aside from the album description and the anticipated new songs, Swifties has dug deeper into the album’s release date, which is October 21, 2022.

Taylor Swift’s new album ‘Midnights’ release date, October 21, is the same day as Kim Kardashian’s 42nd birthday, according to a user. While the theory may seem far-fetched, true Swifties may recognize the reference.

The infamous incident between Taylor Swift and Kanye West occurred at the 2009 MTV Video Music Awards, when Kanye, Kim Kardashian’s estranged husband, stole the show during Swift’s acceptance speech.

The incident occurred 13 years ago, which corresponds to the new 13 tracks included in “Midnights.”

Aside from the release date and track numbers, fans have speculated that one of the album’s tracks will make reference to the night of the MTV blunder.

According to the description, the album will detail Taylor’s 13 sleepless nights, a journey of terrors and sweet dreams scattered throughout her life, which makes sense given that the “All Too Well” hitmaker has repeatedly referred to that moment as a thing that pushed her forward to make better music.

Finally, fans have noticed that her recent 2022 VMAs gown is strikingly similar to the gown she wore during the Kanye incident in 2009.

Taylor has yet to confirm such theories, though she has been known to drop some easter eggs from time to time.

Taylor Swift received three Moonman awards this year for “All Too Well,” including Video of the Year, Best Longform Video, and Best Direction.
