Selena Gomez responded with an emoji to the claims that she was always skinny while dating her ex-boyfriend Justin Bieber.

According to a TikTok video, the “Rare” singer was influenced by her relationship with Bieber. The video, released on November 29, featured a montage of Gomez’s throwback photos.

The caption read:

“The reason why Selena is always skinny when she dates Justin.”

The creator also stated that the “Baby” singer prefers to date “models” and pitied Gomez, writing, “My poor baby.”

On Sunday, the singer of “Kill Em With Kindness” responded subtly with a sad face emoji. Her response divided the internet, with some claiming she agreed and others claiming she was disappointed that her weight was an issue.

One fan commented:

“Maybe she’s upset you guys are constantly bringing up her body changing over the years. She has a right to react to her OWN life. Either way, she’s [fire emoji].”

Another said:

“Sad face because YOU’RE still discussing about her past like you know her.”

A third person claimed:

“If you actually watch Selena’s content, you’ll know that she is saying it in a sarcastic way.”

Another user wrote:

“I’m [sorry], but I think her comment was meant ironically.”

A fifth person added:

“I don’t know how they can make these types of videos, Selena already lives her life, I don’t know why they keep relating!!!”

Another netizen commented:

“Omg I’m so happy for Selena. [S]he finally can share her feelings and be free and do whatever she wants.”

Others said Gomez’s “weight shouldn’t even be a topic of conversation.” The “Tell Me Something I Don’t Know” singer dated the “Yummy” crooner on and off from 2010 to 2018.

In her documentary “Selena Gomez: My Mind & Me,” she addressed their high-profile breakup, calling it “the best thing that ever happened to me.”

Gomez has been candid about her health issues and how they have impacted her body image. In 2015, she was diagnosed with lupus and underwent a kidney transplant.

She shut down body shamers on her TikTok Stories earlier this year after being candid about the criticism she received about her appearance. As Tyga’s song “Rack City” played in the background, she mouthed the lyrics “I’m a muthaf—kin star.”

Gomez said, per E! News:

“So I be trying to stay skinny, but I went to Jack in the Box, and I got four tacos, three egg rolls, onion rings and a spicy chicken sandwich. But honestly, I don’t care about my weight because people b—h about it anyway: ‘You’re too small.’ ‘You’re too big.’ ‘That doesn’t fit.’ ‘Meh meh meh meh.'”

The “The “Who Says” hitmaker sent a message to the body shamers, saying, “B—ch, I am perfect the way I am,” adding, “Moral of the story? Bye.”
