James Brolin workout routine 2022: This unusual diet helps actor maintain youthful look at 82

Fans can’t believe Brolin is now 82 years old because the actor is in better shape than most people his age. For those who have been dying to know his secret, the “Catch Me If You Can” star finally revealed it in an exclusive interview with PEOPLE.

During a lunch with the news outlet near his Malibu home, the actor recalled meeting surfer Laird Hamilton, who taught him the unusual water workouts that helped him stay fit.

According to the “Lightyear” voice actor, he met Hamilton and Gabby Reese at a friend’s party. Brolin was already depressed about his appearance and body at the time. As a result, he was already planning to change his workout routine and diet.

He stated:

“Laird said, ‘Why don’t you come on up to the pool and work out with us on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday?’ So I went, ‘Yeah, okay, great.’ I didn’t.”

Brolin reportedly changed his mind and tried the regime one day. He began doing the workout routines regularly and took it to the next level using weights.

Although it was difficult at first, almost to the point of giving up, the actor trusted Laird and the unique aquatic plan.

Brolin then revealed how he ensured that he progressed in the routine, stating that he began with 10 lbs. before increasing to 15 lbs. He then began lifting 20 pounds before swimming with a weight.

After going through it, the “Capricorn One” actor noticed a significant change on the inside and out. That explains why he began to look younger and better.

In addition to the workout, he gets rid of excess fat in his body by spending 40 minutes three times a week in his home sauna.

Brolin maintains a healthy diet and workout routine to complete his health journey.

He revealed that he always chooses Greek or Mediterranean salad with cheese. Salads like these are low in calories but high in nutrients. These assist Brolin in lowering his risk of developing health issues such as heart disease and cancer, which are common in people his age.

After all, he is no longer afraid to splurge because Brolin will reportedly lose the weight again after a few workouts and a diet.
