NEW YORK, NEW YORK – APRIL 10: Nicolas Cage attends “The Unbearable Weight Of Massive Talent” New York Screening at Regal Essex Crossing on April 10, 2022 in New York City.

The star of “The Family Man” becomes a father for the second time. Nicholas Cage is overcome with emotion as he and his wife Riko Shibata welcome their first child. However, the star decides to change his daughter’s name at the last minute.

A representative for Nicolas Kim Coppola, better known by his stage name “Nicolas Cage,” confirmed the birth of their first child together. Shibata, whom he married in February 2021, was first announced as pregnant by the “Con-air” actor in January.

In an April interview with “The Kelly Clarkson Show,” the veteran actor gushed about his upcoming baby girl, revealing his plans to name her after “The Beatles” singer-songwriter John Lennon and his late father, August Coppola. As a result, Cage named his son “Lennon Auggie” after his two idols.

The “Knowing” actor said to Kelly Clarkson:

“I’ll call her Lenny for short.

I’m thrilled. It’s going to be the biggest adventure of my life.”

However, after the birth of their daughter, the couple settled for “August Francesca Coppola.” It’s unclear why they decided to change their planned name at the last minute.

This would be Cage’s third child, following sons from ex-girlfriends Christina Fulton and Alice Kim.

In an April interview with Entertainment Tonight, the 58-year-old star expressed how much he missed being a father and discussed what he is most looking forward to in his upcoming journey.

Cage expressed excitedly:

“I miss it all. I miss watching a child discover things for the first time.

The way the sunlight shines through a leaf. Taking them to have a lobster dinner and have them freak out at the table. I miss going to the toy store. I miss singing lullabies. I miss rocking in rocking chairs.”

Kal-El, 16 years old, and Weston, 31, are the “National Treasure” star’s sons from previous relationships.

In January, Cage told the Los Angeles Times that he was “happily married” to his fifth wife, Riko Shibata, whom he met through mutual friends in Japan. Cage was filming “Prisoners of the Ghostland” in Japan at the time, and the two fell in love.
