Zac Efron is clearing up rumors about his alleged plastic surgery.
Last year, Efron made headlines for all the wrong reasons when his fans noticed that he appeared to have undergone botched plastic surgery. After a year of speculation, the actor finally addressed the allegations.
He addressed the plastic surgery claims in the October 2022 issue of Men’s Health, where he discussed the “High School Musical” album. He revealed that his changing appearance was the result of an accident that occurred in his home.
Meanwhile, the physical therapy he received caused his chin to grow larger than it was previously.
Reporter Lauren Larson stated:
“He’d been running through his house in socks and slipped, smacking his chin against the granite corner of a fountain. He lost consciousness, and when he woke up, he recalls, his chin bone was hanging off his face.”
Efron also worked with a specialist to retrain his masseter and other facial muscles to work together and appear smaller.
The rumors about his plastic surgery spread so quickly that they even reached his mother. Nonetheless, he chose to ignore the comments and focus on himself instead.
Last year, he appeared on Bill Nye’s “Earth Day Musical” on Facebook Watch. He joined other celebrities in urging people to save and care for the environment.
However, an eight-second clip from the event went viral because he appeared to have lip and jaw enhancements. Fans then compared him to “SpongeBob SquarePants” character Squidward and Shrek.
Amid the speculation, OK! Magazine received an explanation from experts, who revealed that he most likely had injections to reshape his jaw. According to board-certified plastic surgeon Dr. Anthony Youn, Efron’s wider jaw gave him a distinct appearance.
However, he clarified that it could also result from recent surgery, such as wisdom tooth removal. His jaws are still lumpy as of press time.
Meanwhile, Dr. Chris Funderburk of Neinstein Plastic Surgery expressed a similar sentiment, claiming that the actor was a victim of a “overfilled face with facial fillers.” This is said to happen to patients who have poor facial aesthetics.
