Ariana Grande has been cast as Glinda in the upcoming film adaptation of “Wicked,” one of Broadway’s longest-running musicals.

Grande will star alongside Tony Award winner Cynthia Erivo as Elphaba, the green-tanned Wicked Witch of the West. Elphaba will flee to the fearful public with the help of Glinda, and the two will play the iconic “loathing” enemies turned best friends.

Erivo sang praises to her co-stars on the recent Pinnochio Red Carpet Premier, complimenting her experiences working with her during film rehearsals.

Erivo said in a statement to Variety:

“I love her, truly. She is funny and unbelievably talented and unbelievably sweet and truly working hard. We’re both working really hard together. I’m excited for both of us.”

The “Wicked” film received an important update from its director, Jon M. Chu, earlier this April. The film will be released in two parts, the first in December 2024 and the second in December 2025. Idina Menzel played Elphaba in the original Broadway production, while Kristin Chenoweth played Glinda.

The singer furthered:

“I was like, ‘Well alright then, I guess we’ve got our work set ahead of us.’ It’s full on. And kind of exciting, because it means that we have more of the story to tell – more room, more real estate to tell these two stories.”

Ariana Grande stunned everyone earlier today when she debuted her new blonde hair to her 336 million Instagram followers.

“BLONDIANA IS BACK” quickly trended on Twitter, with Arianators gushing over Grande’s new look.

Notably, in the music, Glinda’s “blondeness” influences her characters in a unique way. The recoloring was excellent. Kristin Chenoweth, who played Glinda in the original Broadway production, was also blonde.

While it has not been confirmed, fans believe that filming for “Wicked” has already begun due to the pop star’s new hair color.

Meanwhile, as for Ariana Grande’s new music, the “Positions” singer would not return to the recording studio until after the two “Wicked” movies were released.
