The first weekend of the “When We Were Young” Music Festival in Las Vegas was a trip down memory lane, with famous 2000s bands performing the ultimate throwback playlist.
Avril Lavigne, who recently released her new album “Love Sux,” was one of the festival’s most anticipated performers.
The festival was supposed to begin on October 22nd. However, due to inclement weather in the area, the opening day was pushed back to the following day, October 23rd.
Technically, October 23rd would be the first day of the festival, making October 29th the second day.
Avril Lavigne’s nostalgic performance at the pop-punk festival last weekend was one of the highlights.
The “Sk8r Boi” singer was joined by All Time Low singer and guitarist Alex Gaskarth and lead guitarist Jack Barakat to perform a head-banging cover of Blink-182’s “All The Small Things.”
However, the When We Were Young Festival organizers recently shared some unfortunate news.
Festival organizers announced that Avril Lavigne would not perform at the upcoming show as expected in an Instagram post sharing next week’s Oct. 29th schedule.
The post reads:
“We had the best time on Sunday with @avrillavigne. Due to unforeseen circumstances, she is unable to join us on Oct. 29 of When We Were Young. We will miss you, Avril!”
Organizers have not explained why Lavigne will not be performing. The rocker’s most recent Instagram post was a hilarious haircut video of her getting cut by YUNGBLUD.
But don’t worry, a pop-punk act worthy of Avril Lavigne’s place has already been announced.
The announcement says:
“We are excited to share that Death Cab For Cutie and Underoath have been added to Saturday’s lineup. LETS GO!”
In Bellingham, Washington, Death Cab For Cutie was formed. The band’s current lineup includes vocalist Ben Gibbard, bassist Nick Hammer, guitarist Dave Gepper, keyboardist Zac Rae, and drummer Jason McGerr.
Aside from them, Florida’s own Underoath has been added to the updated lineup of the When We Were Young Festival.
When We Were Young Festival would return on October 29th, 2022, at the Las Vegas Festival Grounds, with a lineup that includes Paramore, My Chemical Romance, The Maine, Dashboard Confessional, and Boys Like Girls, among many others.
