John Legend, who used to be close to Kanye West, spoke out about the changes he saw in the rapper following his controversial anti-Semitic remarks.

Not only is West losing business deals and fortunes, but he is also alienating friends with his erratic behavior, which he has been displaying long before he began making anti-Semitic statements.

Legend, one of his former pals, sat down for an interview on the podcast “On With Kara Swisher” (via Billboard) on Thursday and said that the rapper has definitely changed since they became friends.

When they met, West showed no signs of harmful behavior, according to the “Conversations in the Dark” hitmaker. In the midst of the backlash, Legend stated that he believes Donda West’s death in 2007 has something to do with the changes.

He said:

“I didn’t see hints of this kind of harmful behavior back then, I don’t want to play armchair psychologist, but he’s definitely changed and a lot of us who have known him over the years are really concerned about it.”

Despite his concern for West’s well-being, he clarified that they are no longer friends. He also stated that more people are concerned about him.

Legend also spoke out about Ye’s antisemitic remarks and hate speech, saying that people should be aware of how pervasive antisemitism is.

Forgiveness is always possible for Chrissy Teigen’s husband, but he believes West should face the consequences of his recent behavior.

Before West got into trouble, Legend opened up about their previous friendship and what caused it to fall apart.

Legend revealed that his ex-pal became irritated with him after he refused to support him in his presidential campaign. Instead, he expressed his support for Joe Biden.

The singer expressed disappointment that the rapper’s presidential campaign had become a front for Donald Trump’s campaign. Throughout West’s campaign, he reportedly saw a slew of Trump staffers as they raised funds and signed petitions for him.

Legend’s text messages to West were also leaked, in which he asked the business mogul to reconsider working with the former President.

They fell out after that and no longer treated each other as friends.
