Travis Barker rose to prominence as the drummer for the iconic rock band Blink-182, but these days he’s making headlines for his relationship with Kourtney Kardashian, much to the chagrin of fans.
The musician recently turned 47, and it is still being determined whether he intends to return to his first love, music.
When Barker was four years old, he received his first drum set and began drum lessons. According to reports, he quickly fell in love with the instrument and has been playing it since.
His mother encouraged him to pursue his musical dreams. She died when he was in high school.
Barker began to take music more seriously after hearing her advice, and he gained more exposure and experience. He eventually became a member of the legendary rock band Blink-182.
His hard work and dedication were rewarded when the band achieved mainstream success in 1999 by releasing their third studio album, “Enema of the State.”
He and Blink-182 achieved massive success and were among the most prominent bands in the pop-punk scene.
Barker dabbled in solo projects in addition to his projects with the band. In 1999, he launched “Famous Stars & Straps,” a clothing line, and in 2004, he founded “LaSalle Records,” a record label.
He released a memoir titled “Can I Say: Living Large, Cheating Death, and Drums, Drums, Drums” in 2016. This comes just a few years after a freak plane crash that killed several people and injured the drummer and DJ AM.
According to reports, Barker and DJ AM were on board a plane with “faulty tires,” and the 2008 plane crash nearly killed the drummer, but he survived.
On the other hand, Barker has stopped actively making music in recent years. He kept mostly to himself until he shocked the world by revealing that he was dating reality star, Kourtney Kardashian.
Barker’s relationship with the eldest Kardashian sister was revealed in January 2021. Fans thought the couple was an unusual pairing, but they appeared to be deeply in love and cared for one another.
According to reports, they got engaged that same year and married informally in Las Vegas after the 2022 Grammy Awards.
They married in May in a formal ceremony in Santa Barbara, California.
Although fans were delighted that the drummer had found love again, many questioned the reality star’s role in Barker’s music career.
Fans believe she is the reason he is taking a break from music, but others thank her for making the Blink-182 world tour possible.
Barker admitted that he still feared flying after his accident, but Kardashian is said to have helped him overcome it.
Barker’s net worth is estimated to be around $50 million.
