Last year, the hip-hop community mourned the death of Young Dolph, who was murdered in a Memphis bakery. How is it possible that a new album has been officially announced one year after his death?

According to Uproxx, the rapper was able to record and plan his next album before passing away. It would be his first posthumous album, following his 2020 release “Rich Slave.”

The upcoming project, “Paper Route Frank,” will be released by Paper Route Empire, an independent record label for hip-hop artists founded by Young Dolph himself.

The musician’s team also released his latest single, “Get Away,” the follow-up to his previously-released song, “Hall of Fame,” alongside announcing his new album.

Both singles are streamable on major music platforms such as Spotify and Apple Music. The former’s visualizer can also be found on YouTube.

The posthumous album of Young Dolph will be released next month.

Since November 17, 2023, marks the first annual Adolph “Young Dolph” Thornton Jr. Day of Service, which the states of Georgia and Tennessee have officially recognized, fans are encouraged to use the hashtag #DolphDay and share photos of themselves performing acts of kindness for others.

The IdaMae Foundation announced that the late rapper would have his own day every year. The charity group will distribute free winter kits, serve lunch, and provide free haircuts throughout Memphis to perform acts of service for others.

Mia Jaye, the rapper’s longtime girlfriend, paid tribute to Young Dolph last week, updating her followers on how she and her two children, Aria and Tre, are coping since the musician’s death.

She said in the emotional video:

“this almost year has been the most challenging year I’ve ever had to face in my life.”

She also used the caption to say that her journey has been “not for the faint of heart” because “death is such a cruel part of life.”

Jaye ended her post by asking her followers to pray for her and her children.

On November 17, 2021, Dolph was shot in his hometown of Memphis, Tennessee. He was only 36 at the time.
