On Tuesday evening, Lizzo received one of the most prestigious awards from the 2022 People’s Choice Awards—the People’s Champion Award—leaving many to wonder what she did to earn such a high honor.

Let’s take a look back at the star’s accomplishments this year that helped her establish herself as a standout musician and performer, as well as her impact on pop culture.

TikTok has just released its year-end list, which shows which artists fans enjoyed watching the most on the app, and the 34-year-old appears to have been named this year’s most-watched artist.

Lizzo has dethroned Megan Thee Stallion as “TikTok’s Queen of Music,” according to Hypebae.

Her rise on the app should come as no surprise; her 2022 music releases have all received critical and commercial success.

Lizzo’s success in 2022 can be traced back to her career breakthrough in 2019, and she has been paving the way since the release of her third studio album, “Cuz I Love You.”

Lizzo has been making waves in the music industry and even branching out since then.

The “Truth Hurts” singer will collaborate with Amazon Studios on “Lizzo’s Watch Out for the Big Grrrls,” a reality show in which contestants will dance for the singer, in August 2020.

Despite having only one season as of this writing, the show has done exceptionally well, receiving six Primetime Emmy Award nominations.

It won the Primetime Emmy Awards for Outstanding Competition Program, Outstanding Directing for a Reality Program, and Outstanding Picture Editing for a Structured Reality or Competition Program.

Lizzo wasn’t joking when she promised a “new era” with the release of her hit song “Rumors.” Some of the biggest musical releases in 2022 included “About Damn Time” and her fourth studio album, “Special.”

“About Damn Time” topped the Billboard Hot 100 songs chart, alongside some of 2022’s biggest releases, including Beyonce’s “Break My Soul” and Post Malone’s “I Like You (A Happier Song).”

Lizzo wowed fans in September when she performed on the flute during a concert in Washington, D.C.

The singer, according to reports, was the first and only person to play the centuries-old instrument, which was also owned by former President James Madison.

Lizzo, who has been playing the flute since she was a child, apparently aspired to be a concert flutist. She first learned by ear and then took private lessons.

She is one of music’s biggest stars right now, and she’s not going anywhere. In fact, this could be the start of a long and successful career for her.

Her mother, Shari Johnson-Jefferson, presented her with the People’s Champion Award during the People’s Choice Awards, saying:

“She has shown us all that we don’t have to conform to anyone’s standards in order to be happy, to be creative and to feel worthy.

I know that Lizzo has literally saved lives. No one is more deserving of this honor. I am so proud of her.”
