Because his parents divorced when he was young, the pop star grew up as an only child, spending the majority of his childhood with his mother and grandparents.
He rarely saw his father during his childhood, but they eventually reconciled in 1997. They’ve kept in touch since then, despite not seeing each other in 17 years. They had a falling out before he married because he went back to rehab.
McLean began focusing on his dancing talent when he was four years old. His mother encouraged him throughout his career because she was the one who signed him up for dance lessons.
He practiced his skills for two hours every day. He later studied ballet, jazz tap, contemporary, salsa, merengue, hip hop, gymnastics, and many other dance styles.
His modeling career began when he was five years old, when his mother signed him up for a modeling job. At a young age, he appeared in advertisements and catalogs for companies such as J.C. Penney.
His grandmother introduced him to and taught him how to play the piano, which sparked his interest in music.
In school, he became a part of “Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs” play. Later in his career, he appeared in musicals such as “Fiddler on the Roof,” “The Nutcracker,” and many others.
His Backstreet Boys career began when he saw an ad in a local newspaper looking for young men to join a new music group.
The age requirement was at least 16 years old, but he auditioned despite being only 14 years old. Fortunately for him, he was the first member of the boy band to be inducted.
Since then, the group has grown to be massive, earning him millions of dollars.
McLean is the fifth-richest member of Backstreet Boys, with an estimated net worth of $30 million.
The band recently released their Christmas album and are set to continue on their “DNA” tour, which will begin on January 25, 2023, at Padreira Paulo Leminski in Curitiba, Brazil.
