After releasing his recent song, “Nothing Is Lost (You Give Me Strength),” for the highly anticipated film “Avatar 2: The Way of the Water,” it appears Abel is spending a lot of time in the studio working on his next record.
“Nothing Is Lost (You Give Me Strength)” is included on the film’s official soundtrack and has been nominated for Best Original Song at the upcoming 2023 Academy Awards.
When asked about his thoughts on the nomination, Abel told The Hollywood Reporter:
“I feel honored to be part of that list. Any kind of recognition for it feels like a blessing.”
The Weeknd elaborated on his feelings about being nominated for an Oscar, saying that it “definitely feels different” than being nominated for a Grammy.
In terms of the creative process for “Nothing is Lost,” The Weeknd stated that working with collaborators such as James Cameron puts a lot of pressure on him.
“I was honored, but I was nervous. It’s such a big opportunity and the film is so massive that naturally I was nervous. I knew I was going to be working with some special collaborators because I was going to be working with people who had vision and knew exactly what they wanted,”
While The Weeknd has been unusually quiet since his release and in recent months, the publication’s interview gave his fans some hope that new material from the chart-topping artist is on the way.
He was asked if he worked in music at the end of the interview. The Weekend, being the direct and brief individual that he is, provided a very straightforward response.
“I’ve definitely been inspired. I’ve been in the studio,”
Although nothing else was said about The Weeknd’s new music, it can be said that he was working quietly as he surprised everyone with the release of a new music video for “Is There Someone Else,” from his latest project, “Dawn FM.”
The video was released on the anniversary of the release of “Dawn FM,” which was released on January 7, 2022. The project was released a year ago and debuted at No. 2 on the Billboard 200 albums chart.
