Many Chicago fans have been waiting for Harry Styles to perform in the city; many have even camped outside the venue to be among the first to enter the concert. However, the singer was forced to cancel his appearance due to an emergency.
The “As It Was” hitmaker was scheduled to perform at the United Center for six nights, but the opening show was canceled due to “an abundance of caution,” according to the Chicago Sun Times.
A member of the band/crew was reportedly ill, according to a Sony Music representative, but the British singer was not affected.
Fortunately for other fans who have passes for other days, the show scheduled for Saturday evening will not be canceled.
The remaining dates for his Chicago tour are October 9, 10 (rescheduled show), 13, 14, and 15.
Supporters who missed out on ticket sales will be unable to obtain passes as the dates listed above are all sold out unless they purchase from resale markets, where prices are much higher than the original.
All tickets for the rescheduled show are still valid for the Monday performance.
After the venue announced the cancellations, many fans took to social media to express their disappointment, as many had traveled from outside the city to see the former One Direction member.
One fan told other supporters:
“I’m so sorry to everyone who came in from out of town for this show. You have a right to be upset and sad.”
One fan stated that they were preparing to see the singer and drove six hours to the concert venue only to discover that it had been canceled.
Another unfortunate concertgoer would not be able to attend the Monday show because they had flown for eight hours and were scheduled to return on the day the rescheduled date takes place.
One parent wrote:
“Yep. My teenage daughters flew in from St. Louis and can’t stay. They already missed school to go. How terrible they won’t reimburse for the tix we cannot use now. :(“
As of this writing, Harry Styles has not responded publicly to the online comments.
