Elon Musk extends a warm welcome to Kanye West on Twitter following the rapper’s ban from Instagram.
Kanye West, the founder of “Yeezy,” was recently involved in a content moderation controversy after he took to Instagram and went on a rant about his “White Lives Matter” fashion line. According to The Hollywood Reporter, some of Kanye’s posts have been deleted, and the rapper has since been barred from posting on Instagram for repeatedly violating policies.
While West’s account is still visible to the public, he is most likely barred from posting new content for the time being. As of today, Ye’s Instagram feed is entirely comprised of screenshots of texts and rants about his “enemies.”
Now, the “Flashing Lights” rapper has taken to Twitter to express his displeasure with the social media restrictions. Kanye posted a photo of himself and Meta founder Mark Zuckerberg singing karaoke with a group on Twitter. Despite Kanye’s apparent dig at Meta’s founder, SpaceX CEO Elon Musk took to the comments to welcome Kanye West.
In response to Ye’s call out to Mark Zuckerberg, Elon Musk tweeted:
“Welcome back to Twitter, my friend!”
Kanye West and Elon Musk’s friendship dates back to 2011, when the rapper visited the SpaceX rocket factory, prompting Elon Musk to tweet a photo of the encounter. Furthermore, during the 2020 US presidential elections, the tech billionaire expressed his support for Kanye’s presidential campaign.
Elon Musk also praised the 45-year-old rapper when he wrote about him in a 2015 Time Magazine article.
Musk wrote for Time Magazine:
“Kanye’s belief in himself and his incredible tenacity – he performed his first single with his jaw wired shut – got him to where he is today. And he fought for his place in the cultural pantheon with a purpose. He’s not afraid of being judged or ridiculed in the process. Kanye’s been playing the long game all along, and we’re only just beginning to see why.”
Over the years, the two CEOs have posed in several viral photos, including an iconic photo that several users have been tweeting on Ye’s Twitter thread.
