Aaron Carter was said to be obsessed with a family member.

Over the weekend, the 34-year-old former child star was discovered dead inside his bathtub at his Lancaster, California, home.

The “I’m All About You” singer, who previously admitted to huffing, was discovered with multiple cans of compressed air and bottles of prescription medications.

According to Aaron’s close friend Gary Madatyan, Aaron was in love with his elder brother Nick Carter.

He is said to have been “calling out” for his older brother’s love for years, and he frequently discussed reconciling with the “I Want It That Way” hitmaker until his tragic death.

According to Gary, Aaron’s mental health also strained Gary’s relationship with his family and fiancée, Melanie Martin.

On the other hand, Aaron appears to want to make amends with those he has wronged.

According to Page Six, Gary believes Nick, the Backstreet Boys singer, could have done more for his younger brother.

“I’m not passing judgment on him. I’m not saying anything negative since I admire him. He’s a brilliant artist. I adore him, but Aaron had a crush on his sibling.”

Gary went on to say that people with mental illnesses think differently, and he described the “Candy” singer as constantly “pushing, prodding to gain that attention.”

“Aaron did things to his brother that he should never have done, but we’re talking about mental health here. He was pleading for assistance.”

Despite Aaron and Nick Carter’s strained relationship, a spokesman for the younger brother stated that they were in a good place before his tragic death.

They stated in a statement on Monday to HollywoodLife:

“He looked up to Nick in so many ways. They were trying to make everything good again.”

Fans could see what life was like in the Carter household on the now-defunct reality show “House of Carters,” which aired for eight episodes before being canceled in 2006.

Aaron discussed his strained relationship with Nick in a fall interview. Aaron mentioned his elder brother’s public support on Twitter after announcing his DUI.

In 2019, the “Shape Of My Heart” boyband singer accused Aaron of threatening his wife Lauren and their children, complicating their relationship. As a result, Aaron was served with a restraining order.

The brothers’ feud resurfaced after Nick failed to attend his sister Leslie’s funeral in 2012.
