Megan Thee Stallion and Tory Lanez’s highly contentious assault trial begins today, years after the tragic incident in California.

While the news speaks negatively about Megan Thee Stallion, many people believe she orchestrated the entire incident.

Megan recently defended herself in an interview with Rolling Stone.

Megan told the publication about Tory Lanez:

“I thought we had a real connection. I thought he knew me. And I never would’ve thought he would’ve shot at me at all. I never put my hands on this man. I never did anything to him. There was an argument. People argue every day. Friends argue every day.”

Rapper Megan Thee Stallion came forward earlier this year to fully detail the truth about the 2020 incident she was involved in in California with ex-friend Tory Lanez.

The two rappers used Lanez’s SUV to get home after a Kylie Jenner party. A heated argument, however, escalated into a violent altercation, with the male rapper shooting Megan in the foot.

She said at the time:

“I feel shame, a little bit, because even after he shot me, I still was thinking about everybody else in the car. I thought everybody in the car was my friend, [and] the whole time, that’s not how they thought of me. That’s what really hurts.”

The “Traumzine” singer was taken to the hospital, but she denied being shot by Tory Lanez. It wasn’t until months later that he revealed the rapper’s identity.

Tory was later charged with assault with a semi-automatic firearm, personal use of a firearm, and carrying a loaded, unregistered firearm in a vehicle – all of which he has pleaded not guilty to.

The trial has been delayed in recent months due to scheduling issues with Tory Lanez’s legal defense, causing the trial to be pushed back.

Meanwhile, Megan Thee Stallion’s then-bestfriend, Kelsey Harris, was summoned to court for her presence at the SUV shooting in 2020.

Harris went to meet Lanez days after he allegedly shot Megan three times in the foot. Megan claims that the Canadian rapper gave her best friend money.

Harris has not made any public statements about the shooting since it occurred in 2020.
