Despite being one of the world’s most respected singers, Adele has admitted that she is still afraid of performing live.

Adele discussed her current mental health and how she feels about performing live during her “Weekends With Adele” Las Vegas residency. The 34-year-old “Rolling in the Deep” hitmaker revealed on Friday that she had resumed therapy after missing it for several years.

Her therapy session included discussing how she becomes stressed when performing live.

She went on, as quoted by PEOPLE:

“I love making music, but there is something about performing live that actually terrifies me and fills me with dread normally. That’s why I am not a big touring artist. I did it last time to prove I could do it. But this experience of being in a room this size, I think I might be a live artist for the rest of my life.”

Adele explained that the pressure she puts on herself to be perfect exacerbates her situation. In fact, that was reportedly the reason she canceled her January shows.

She realized after going through those things that she is just a human being who needs to help herself overcome those negative emotions.

The “Easy on Me” singer continued, she always told her therapist that her soul was top-notch even when her voice isn’t. When asked when she was happiest, she stated that having human interaction every weekend brings her peace and joy.

She decided to go back to therapy after her divorce from Simon Konecki in 2019.

Adele recently stated that after her divorce from her ex-husband, with whom she shares her 10-year-old son, she went to five therapy sessions per day. They divorced five months after they separated.

She told Opray Winfrey in her “Adele One Night: Only” special in 2021 that she decided to end things between them because she was too exhausted to continue.

She reportedly felt disappointed for herself and her son as a result of the divorce because she took the marriage seriously but failed to make it work. She also expressed her sadness at feeling as if she had destroyed her child’s life to save herself.
