On Monday, Kate Middleton turned another year older and wiser.
To commemorate the Princess of Wales’ 41st birthday, the British royal family’s official Twitter and Instagram pages posted a sweet tribute to her.
The photo chosen by King Charles and Queen Consort Camilla shows Middleton wearing a red coat and smiling as she accepts a bouquet of flowers from a toddler dressed in traditional Welsh attire.
According to People, the photo was taken during Middleton’s first visit to Wales with her husband, Prince William, after they were named Prince and Princess of Wales in September 2022.
The caption read, along with a birthday cake emoji:
“Wishing The Princess of Wales a very Happy Birthday today!”
Middleton also received birthday wishes from royal fans, military organizations, and charities for which she is a patron.
Along with one of Middleton and Prince William’s engagement photos, a royal fan tweeted:
“William brought home a valuable addition to the royal family. Happy birthday to HRH Catherine, the Princess of Wales.”
Tennis legend Billie Jean King tweeted:
“Happy birthday to Kate, the Princess of Wales. We hope your day is a joyous one.”
Middleton’s birthday was also made extra special by the National Portrait Gallery. Last year, the organization shared one of the portraits released in honor of the princess’ 40th birthday, writing, “Happy birthday to our patron, HRH The Princess of Wales.”
Another of Middleton’s royal patronages, Place2Be, tweeted:
“Wishing a happy birthday to our royal patron, HRH The Princess of Wales. Thank you for your support over the past 10 years, and for your ongoing commitment to improving children and young people’s mental health and well-being.”
The Irish Guards tweeted the Latin phrase “Quis Separabit,” which means “Who shall separate us?”
“We at the Irish Guards wish HRH Catherine, The Princess of Wales and Colonel of the Regiment, a very happy birthday.”
In December 2022, King Charles appointed Middleton as honorary Colonel of the Irish Guards.
Middleton’s birthday came as her brother-in-law, Prince Harry, continued to hold several tell-alls to promote his explosive book, “Spare,” which was released on Tuesday.
Prince Harry made some disparaging remarks about the Princess of Wales in his memoir, including a “awkward moment” between her and his wife, Meghan Markle.
Middleton was unhappy and “grimaced,” according to Prince Harry, when the Duchess of Sussex borrowed her lip gloss. He also appeared to blame Prince William and Middleton for allegedly encouraging him to dress up as a Nazi for a costume party in 2005.
Buckingham Palace has stated that it will not comment on any of the allegations in the book.
