Many fans became nostalgic as Dolly Parton, Debbie Harry, Cyndi Lauper, Gloria Estefan, and Belinda Carlisle collaborated with Diane Warren on a new song; however, not everyone was pleased with the music video.

According to Live For Live Music, the musicians collaborated on the song “Gonna Be You,” which will be featured on the official soundtrack of the upcoming film “80 For Brady” produced by Paramount Pictures.

Warren wrote the song, which was produced by Damon Elliott, and it was accompanied by a music video directed by award-winning director Alex Ogus.

The video featured all of the singers, who wore matching bedazzled football jerseys inspired by Tom Brady.

Many critics expressed their displeasure with the new song and music video as soon as they heard it, with one user writing:

“Just an awful idea to make this crap.”

One wrote:

“This s*** is depressing.”

Another one chimed in:

“Dumb movie dumb song dumb broads.”

As of this writing, none of the aforementioned singers had publicly responded to the negative comments made by online users.

In a previous statement, the award-winning songwriter stated that she wanted to write a song to honor the characters’ deep friendship in the film.

Because the film’s title contains the number “80,” she immediately thought of contacting iconic singers from the 1980s, all of whom said yes to the project.

She added:

“‘I’m honored to have Dolly Parton, Belinda Carlisle, Cyndi Lauper, Gloria Estefan and Debbie Harry on this song!! ‘Gonna Be You’ is that song you want to sing along to with all your good friends!!!”

Parton, on the other hand, issued a statement in which she said it’s nice and exciting to work with her older pals who star in the film as well as the other singers in the collaboration.

She added:

“I love feeling like I’m still part of something great and being with those gals that we know are great was a thrill.”

“Gonna Be You” is now available to stream on major music streaming services such as Apple Music and Spotify. The official music video can be viewed on the official YouTube channel of Paramount Pictures.
