Silento is a $1.5 million-dollar-worth American rapper. We are confident that he could have grown even more if his early success had been sustained. In 2020, the 25-year-old rapper experienced a complete 180 in his life and career.
Silento was born in Atlanta, Georgia in January 1998. “Watch Me (Whip/Nae Nae)” is his most popular single.
This was his debut single, which was certified five times platinum after being released in 2015. As of this writing, the song has been viewed over 1.8 billion times on YouTube alone. The single reached number three in the United States, number nine in Australia, and number twenty in Canada, Denmark, France, New Zealand, the United Kingdom, and France.
Silentó’s ‘Watch Me (Whip/Nae Nae)’ was one of the year’s biggest hits.
Silentó was only 17 years old when it made its debut and appeared to be one of the decade’s biggest sensations, spending six weeks on the Billboard Hot 100. Silentó’s life took a dark turn just five years after the release of ‘Watch Me (Whip/Nae Nae)’ when he was arrested for the first of many times following a domestic disturbance.
Silentó, born Richard Lamar Ricky Hawk, was arrested for the first time on August 28, 2020, and charged with assaulting a spouse or cohabitant. Hawk was arrested again the next day while looking for his fiancée after allegedly entering a stranger’s house with a hatchet. Hawk found himself in handcuffs again two months later.
He allegedly drove at 143 miles per hour on a Georgia highway, resulting in his arrest for speeding. Hawk was booked into an Illinois jail on one count of murder a few months later, on 21 January 2021, after police responded to an early morning shots fired report.
Hawk was formally charged last February 1 with premeditated murder and felony murder in the death of his cousin, Frederick Rooks. Hawk was indicted with murder with malice, felony murder, aggravated assault, and possession of a firearm while committing a felony on August 3, 2021. According to police records, officers responding to a gunshot complaint in a residential area on January 21 discovered Rooks bleeding profusely in the roadway. He was shot in the face and leg and was pronounced dead at the scene.
DeKalb County Police Department confirmed in a statement at the time that Ricky Hawk, 23, was arrested for the murder of his cousin Frederick Rooks, 34.”
The DeKalb County Police Department launched an investigation into the shooting death of Rooks, who was discovered on Deep Shoals Circle, on January 21. Hawk is being held in the DeKalb County Jail on murder charges. Hawk’s publicist stated after his arrest that the rapper has suffered from “a series of mental health issues” in recent years and asked for compassion and prayers.
