Mod Sun officially broke his silence following his divorce from Avril Lavigne.
Mod Sun posted photos and videos of himself performing on his Instagram page on Tuesday. While the post appeared to be a regular update from the punk-pop rocker, the caption broke fans’ hearts because it addressed his split from Lavigne.
He said:
“In 1 week my entire life completely changed…I just know there’s a plan for it all. I’ll keep my head up + always listen to my heart, even when it feels broken,”
During his tours, he says he still feels blessed because he is surrounded by love. He also referred to his fans as best friends and thanked them for their unwavering support.
Mod Sun is currently on tour in support of his 2023 God Save the Teen album. He and Lavigne split up a week ago, three days before he left on tour.
The reason for their breakup is unknown. However, sources told a news outlet that no third party was involved.
However, the breakup rumors began when photos of Lavigne and Type out to dinner at Nobu surfaced. According to sources, they are good friends.
Music brought Lavigne and Mod Sun together. They began by collaborating on the rocker’s 2021 single, “Flames.” Mod Sun also co-wrote and co-produced some of her latest album, “Love Sux.”
They quickly sparked relationship rumors when they were spotted together in February 2021 at BOA Steakhouse in Los Angeles. Megan Fox and Machine Gun Kelly were with them at the time.
They waited months before making their relationship Instagram official. Mod Sun posted photos of them together in September 2021, with the first showing him kissing Lavigne on the cheek.
The same month, they made their red carpet-debut at the 2021 MTV Video Music Awards. They also won everyone’s hearts when they kissed at the 2022 Grammy Awards.
Mod Sun and Lavigne will be married on April 8, 2022. Mod Sun proposed to her with a heart-shaped ring he designed himself. They also threw a Paris-themed engagement party.
In September 2022, the rocker gave her a sweet birthday poem, but they didn’t post anything in the months leading up to their split.
