The Weeknd is one of the music industry’s biggest, most successful, and most talented stars of this generation, and he’s about to embark on a new chapter.

The film industry should keep an eye out for the 33-year-old hitmaker, who is about to make his acting debut in a feature film directed by Trey Edward Shults.

Little isn’t much known about The Weeknd’s upcoming film, as it is still untitled and the plot is unknown, but a few details have been released.

According to Deadline, the Canadian singer will appear alongside Jenna Ortega and Barry Keoghan.

The Weeknd, who previously produced and starred in HBO’s “Idol,” co-wrote the script with Shults and Reza Fahim.

The Weeknd, Fahim, Kevin Turen, and Harrison Kreiss are among the producers of this film, with Shults and Ortega serving as executive producers.

Shults is the director of the 2019 film “Waves,” the 2017 film “It Comes at Night,” and the 2015 film “Krisha.”

Ortega, on the other hand, is best known for her role as Wednesday Adams in Netflix’s “Wednesday,” as well as other films such as “The Fallout” in 2021, “The Babysitter: Killer Queen” in 2020, “Wyrm” in 2019, and “Scream” in 2022.

According to Rap-Up, the multi-award-winning singer has been working on the script for this upcoming film for several months.

His two co-stars immediately signed on after “being blown away by the script.”

Furthermore, the music for the film will be handled by Oneohtrix Point Never, a composer, and producer who has previously worked on shows such as “Uncut Gems.”

It is another achievement in The Weeknd’s career, as he was recently named the first artist to reach 100 million monthly Spotify listeners.

According to reports, this new accomplishment comes soon after the release of his “Die for You” remix with Ariana Grande.

The duet was such a smash hit that it immediately charted on the Billboard Hot 100.

The Weeknd released his first studio album, “Kiss Land,” in 2013, followed by “Beauty Behind the Madness” in 2015, the critically acclaimed “Starboy” in 2016, “After Hours” in 2020, and “Dawn FM” in 2021.
