The Spice Girls’ hit single “Stop” was released 25 years ago. But it seems like only yesterday!

The Spice Girls marked the historic occasion with an alternate music video for the hit song.

The video follows the November 2022 release of Spiceworld25, which commemorates the studio album’s 25th anniversary since its initial release on November 1, 1997.

The band sang while standing in a line in the middle of a street surrounded by children.

They then performed a series of intricately choreographed dance moves in unison.

Mel C, Victoria Beckham, Geri Horner, Mel B, and Emma Bunton wore iconic hairstyles and makeup from the 1990s.

The original music video was shot on Dublin’s Carnew Street, with each band member knocking on various doors.

Mel B discussed the video concept, stating there was no storyboard for this video; it was more trial and error.

She explained that it was more free-for-all and needed to be meticulously prepared. Everything they did was a disaster, she admitted.

She revealed that they all wanted to contribute, so the director had to be able to include them all while also overlaying his ideas and making it all flow.

The group was shown in the film’s second half, participating in various activities with young girls, such as racing and dancing through the streets, skipping rope, playing hopscotch, cat’s cradle and pat-a-cake, and hula hooping.

It comes after Mel C denied that the band would perform at Glastonbury this year.

She expressed her desire for the ensemble to perform at the festival but stated that it is currently outside the group’s plans.

When asked if festival co-organizer Emily Eavis had invited the band to perform, she told the Guardian’s G2 supplement that the answer is as disappointing to her as it is to Spice Girls fans.
She stated they would all love to attend Glasto, but a reunion performance is not in the girls’ current plans. She stated that they all want to return to the stage, but everything is uncertain.

The Spice Girls reformed without Victoria Beckham for a stadium tour three years ago, and Melanie believes the fashion designer has ‘fomo’ (fear of missing out) due to her absence from the 2019 Spice World Tour.

She hoped that Victoria would change her mind and reconnect with her bandmate.
