Drew Barrymore recently addressed her sex life in an online post, stating that she hasn’t been in an intimate relationship since her breakup with Will Kopelman and that her perspective on sex has “truly changed.” What prompted her to reconsider?
Taking to her official blog, the TV show host discussed sex in her life, which she describes as a “very personal story” because she hadn’t had sex in a long time.
The 47-year-old actress stated that she has “very different feelings” about intimacy than she did as a child in show business.
Throughout her childhood, Barrymore saw sex as something that provided her with “companionship, validation, excitement,” among other benefits.
Now that everything has passed, the “Charlie’s Angels” star has chosen to view intimacy positively.
After separating from their father and becoming a single mother, she shifted her focus to her two children.
She stated:
“I have had the pleasure of shifting my focus when it comes to love for myself and my two daughters. I know that does not include a man nor has it for a while.”
Many fans would understand where she’s coming from if she explained what her therapist told her elsewhere in the post “Sex is not synonymous with love! It is a manifestation of love.”
Those were the words Barrymore sought throughout her single motherhood, and she credited her therapist with providing her with that eye-opening quotation.
Although the actress stated that she might get into a relationship in the future, she clarified that it is not her top priority.
Today, her primary goal is to make her children and herself happy, but she maintains that she is not the type of person who needs to “go out there” and have sex regularly.
According to People Magazine, rumors about Barrymore’s relationship with Kopelman began in 2011 after they were spotted having coffee and dinner together in Los Angeles.
They married in 2012 and shared two children. Their marriage, however, did not last long, as they divorced a few years later.
