Sylvester Stallone and Jennifer Flavin have been married for 25 years, and they made headlines recently when they were on the verge of divorce. Today, the legendary actor discusses the brief split and how it impacted his life.
In an interview with the Sunday Times, the “Expendables” star recalled their split in August before calling off their divorce a few weeks later.
The 76-year-old actor explained the situation, saying it was a “very tumultuous time” for him, but it had a huge impact on his life because he saw their breakup as a “reawakening” of what was important to him in his life.
He went on to say that his most valuable asset is his “love for my family. It takes precedence over my work, and that was a hard lesson to learn.”
Flavin, according to People Magazine, was the one who made the big decision by filing for divorce in August.
Stallone stated they were addressing personal issues behind closed doors and refused to provide further details about the split.
The businesswoman also stated at the time, saying she was saddened to announce that she had filed for divorce after 25 years of marriage to the actor.
She told the outlet:
“While we will no longer be married, I will always cherish the more than 30-year relationship that we shared.”
The couple married in 1997, but they had been together since 1988.
Just weeks after filing for divorce, the two confirmed that their divorce would not be finalized, and they were spotted in New York City just a few weeks later.
The couple wore wedding rings when they met Leonardo DiCaprio and his father.
Stallone and Flavin have three daughters, Sophia, Scarlet, and Sistine. The actor is the father of five children. From his first marriage to Sasha Czack, he had two children named Sage and Seargeoh.
In the same interview, the actor discussed his family, saying that he didn’t pay attention to his children when they were growing up because of his busy career but that he’s doing his best now to bond with them as much as possible and start asking about their lives.
