Bad Bunny takes the biggest apple cake of all, having been named Apple Music 2022’s Artist of the Year.

Bad Bunny, born Benito Antonio Martnez Ocasio, has made strides in his career as a Latin artist and musician.

According to Billboard, the “Me Porto Bonito” singer has been named the streaming service’s Artist of the Year. To make matters even more impressive, he is the only artist named this year.

Apple Music has already named several artists since 2019, including Billie Eilish, Taylor Swift, Megan Thee Stallion, The Weekend, and even Lil Baby.

Bad Bunny’s most recent album, “Un Verano Sin Ti,” is currently the biggest album of 2022 based on cumulative album units since its release on May 6, 2022. Since its release, the album has remained at the top of the Billboard 200 albums chart.

The publication also stated that Bad Bunny was honored in 2022 for his extraordinary excellence and influence on global culture.

According to Billboard, Apple Music and Beats Vice President Oliver Schusser stated:

“We’re thrilled to celebrate the achievements of Bad Bunny, whose influence on every corner of culture could not be ignored in 2022. Watching Bad Bunny ascend from an Apple Music Up Next artist in 2018 to our Artist of the Year this year has been nothing short of extraordinary. We congratulate him on his record-breaking year and for continuing to bring Latin music to a massive global audience.”

Bad Bunny, on the other hand, is overjoyed with the attention:

“I’m grateful for everything I’ve accomplished and everything I’ve experienced. The Latin music movement has grown so much. I would never take full credit or say, ‘It’s because of me.’ No, it’s every one of us. A whole generation. Our energy and presence are always felt.”

The upcoming 2022 Latin Grammy Awards and the 2023 Grammy Awards are expected to be swept by Bad Bunny’s “Un Verano Sin Ti.”

The nomination list for the 2023 Grammy Awards has yet to be released, but Bad Bunny’s album, like Beyonce, Adele, Harry Styles, and Kendrick Lamar, is a lock for Album of the Year.
